Aloft by Marriott Strasbourg City Centre
Hotel 4-star with spa in Strasbourg
Presentation
The Aloft Strasbourg City Centre overlooks Parc de l'Étoile, in the Neudorf district, a five-minute walk from Étoile Bourse tram station. The historic center and its cathedral are about a twenty-minute walk away, much less by tram. The surrounding area remains residential and quiet, far from the bustle of the city center.
As soon as you push open the door, the light hits you first. The lobby opens wide, almost like a lounge, with raw wood and metal furniture and touches of pop art on the walls. You can tell the place was designed in 2020, with codes closer to a loft than a classic hotel lobby. Billard players sometimes face off in one corner, while a ping-pong table waits farther on.
Up on the floors, the rooms range from 21 to 25 m². Not huge, but well laid out, with large windows that let in daylight and cut down street noise. Some look out toward the cathedral in the distance, others toward the Vosges or the new stand at the Meinau stadium, depending on the floor and orientation. The décor stays in the same tones as the lobby, warm without being overdone. Walk-in shower, discreet safe, tea and coffee tray, everything you need for two or three nights.
In the morning, the buffet does not hold back: still-warm pastries, scrambled eggs, a selection of cured meats and cheeses, a basket of fresh fruit, not to mention vegetarian options for those who prefer to take it easy. You can sit in the dining room or grab a coffee to go, depending on the time of your first appointment.
In the evening, there is no fine-dining restaurant inside. The W XYZ bar instead serves sharing plates, nachos, guacamole, and a few platters, enough to tide you over before heading out for dinner in Neudorf or Krutenau, just nearby. On the other hand, the cocktail menu is solid, and the weekend DJ nights give the ground floor a very different, livelier pace.
As for parking, there is no private lot attached to the hotel. You park on the surrounding streets with a blue parking disc, generally free from 7 p.m. onward. Something to plan for if you are coming by car; otherwise, the tram solves the issue in just a few stops.
The gym remains open 24/7, the terrace fills up as soon as the weather is nice, and a 49 m² meeting room called Tactic can host up to 40 people for those who are here to work rather than stroll.
A practical tip for the morning: the terrace fills up quickly after 8 a.m. Best head there as soon as the buffet opens, coffee in hand, before jumping on the tram to the center.
