ibis Styles Strasbourg Centre Petite France
Hotel 3-star with spa in Strasbourg
Presentation
The ibis Styles Strasbourg Centre Petite France stands out from afar, set on the banks of the Ill, just a stone’s throw from the district that gives it its name. It is often reached on foot from the station, barely a ten-minute walk, and already the half-timbered houses set the tone.
From the moment you enter, the decor gives its own take on Alsatian folklore: exposed beams, warm tones, and nods to the canals visible from some windows. The lobby remains small, with a reception desk open day and night, convenient for late arrivals or early departures.
The rooms, around forty spread over several floors, follow an efficient, no-frills approach. Double bed or twin beds, sometimes a sofa bed for families. The bathroom remains compact, with a shower or bathtub depending on the category, plus a hairdryer and toiletries provided. A few rooms have a balcony overlooking the neighborhood rooftops, while others offer a direct view of the canal. As for thermal comfort, it is worth knowing before booking: not all rooms are air-conditioned, and those on the lower floors, more exposed to the afternoon sun, heat up a little faster than the others.
On the ground floor, the bar stays open continuously. You can grab a bite there at any hour, order a cocktail late in the afternoon, or simply settle in with a coffee between visits. Breakfast is served in the dining room, as a buffet with pastries and regional specialties. Expect an extra charge to enjoy it, something to keep in mind if the room rate already seems reasonable, and it is better to go down early: at peak times, the room fills up quickly.
For those arriving by car, there is on-site parking, but it operates by reservation and is not free. In such a dense neighborhood, it is better to secure it in advance rather than count on it at the last minute.
The hotel also offers access to a gym just steps away, enough to keep up a routine even while traveling. Wi-Fi is free in the rooms, a safe lets you keep your belongings secure, and luggage storage is very handy on the last days of a stay, when the room has already been vacated but the train does not leave until evening.
When you step outside, Petite France can be discovered in just a few minutes, with its covered bridges, leaning facades, and locks marking the rhythm of the walk. The cathedral is not much farther, and the Christmas market, in season, sets up a few streets away.
One last tip: book your breakfast table before nine o’clock, as the dining room fills up quickly with business groups.
Summary of some positive reviews read on the Web
- Just steps from the station and the city center. Petite France is a five-minute walk away. Handy for a quick trip back and forth between two appointments.
- Already several stays here, one or two nights each time. The welcome is always the same, with helpful and attentive staff. We would come back without hesitation.
- Room with a view of the canal, comfortable bedding. Nice little balcony for a morning coffee. Tea and coffee available in the room.
- Varied buffet, pastries and local specialties. At peak times the room fills up quickly and there are not enough tables. Better to go down early.
- Room on the first floor without shutters, just curtains. Large bay window in full afternoon sun, it gets hot without air conditioning. The upper floors seem cooler.
- On-site parking, very useful right in the city center. Exit a bit poorly signposted, we turned for two minutes before finding the barrier.
