A dozen minutes’ walk from the pedestrian zone, you can reach the cathedral and Petite France without having to pull out your phone every two blocks. That is what stands out first: the short distance between the room and the historic heart, without ending up in the middle of the morning tourist flow. The neighborhood remains quieter, more residential, a short distance from the Rivetoile shopping center and its eighty shops.

Going up to the upper floors, the one hundred and forty-eight rooms were refurbished in 2023. You will find a desk for your laptop, a safe, a tea and coffee tray, and air conditioning for the hot months. Families often choose the double rooms with a sofa bed, which can accommodate up to four people; couples prefer the twin beds or the king-size bed, along with the unusual pillow menu offered at reception, a firmness choice not found everywhere. The private bathrooms are equipped with hairdryers and basic but adequate toiletries.

In the morning, head to the buffet on the ground floor. Breakfast stays in the classic continental range: bread, pastries, fruit juices, a few dairy products. This is not an endless hot buffet, and some regulars find it a little modest in variety. On the plus side, it runs quickly and without queues, which is handy when you need to head out early for the European institutions or catch a train to Colmar.

Late in the afternoon, the lobby bar opens until eleven p.m. There you mostly see business travelers finishing their emails over a glass of Alsatian wine, sometimes a local beer, before going back out to dine in the center. Nothing spectacular in the decor, but the place does its job well as a buffer between the room and the street.

As for parking, around fifty spaces are reserved in a secure garage, on request and for an additional fee: it is better to arrange this when booking the room rather than arriving and hoping for an available spot that evening. For those arriving without a car, the pedestrian zone and the tram network make the issue secondary anyway.

One practical detail to finish: if you sleep early, ask for a courtyard-facing room rather than a street-facing one. The windows insulate well, but the first tram of the morning is still the first tram of the morning.
