This closeness to the tracks is felt from the very first steps in the lobby.

Six floors, an elevator, and a lobby that remains understated, almost administrative. The furnishings in the common areas are not meant to impress. It is a choice of functionality rather than style, and it is better to know that before arriving.

As you go up the floors, the logic of the place becomes clearer. The 98 apartments range from a 22 m² studio to a three-room apartment of 48 m², able to accommodate six people without anyone feeling crowded. Each unit has its own kitchenette, including ceramic hobs and a dishwasher. Enough to improvise dinner on an evening when you are tired, rather than go back out to look for a table still open.

Air conditioning runs throughout, which is not a detail on Alsatian summer evenings. One point to know before booking: rooms facing the boulevard pick up traffic noise, especially in the evening. It is better to request a courtyard-facing room when booking, so you can sleep soundly.

On the ground floor, the heated indoor pool remains accessible free of charge all year round. A real plus after a day wandering through the alleys of Petite France or around the cathedral. A sauna and hammam are also available, but for an extra fee payable on site.

Breakfast is served between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m., also at an extra cost (expect to pay around twelve euros). The dining room remains modest in size. You mainly meet business travelers in a hurry and regulars of the Lagrange network there.

The multilingual staff juggle questions from travelers coming for a meeting in the 88 m² conference space and families on a shopping weekend near the Halles shopping center, just a few minutes' walk away. Housekeeping comes every day. Free luggage storage lets you leave your bags before check-in time, useful for morning trains.

There is no restaurant or bar on site. That encourages you to go out in the evening, which is no bad thing in Strasbourg. Petite France can be reached in fifteen minutes on foot, and the winstubs in the center in a little more.

One last tip for the morning: go early if you plan to enjoy the pool before breakfast. After 9 a.m., it fills up quickly.
